A MÚSICA NA BELLE ÉPOQUE DECADENTE: REFLEXÕES SOBRE O GOSTO MUSICAL NA OBRA DE COMPOSITORES PARAENSES DE 1912 A 1940

Resumo

Este texto trata de um estudo sobre composições musicais produzidas durante o período de decadência da Belle Époque em Belém do Pará entre 1912 e 1940. Buscou-se identificar os estilos, gêneros e gostos musicais evidenciados nas composições editadas e publicadas nesse período, bem como foi analisada a relação dessas obras com contextos históricos, sociais e políticos. Trata-se de pesquisa documental realizada no acervo de partituras editadas da Coleção Vicente Salles, pertencente ao Museu da Universidade Federal do Pará. Foram analisadas 118 partituras de 46 compositores paraenses, sendo selecionadas 65 obras de 36 compositores. Como resultado, identificou-se uma diversidade de casas editoras em Belém e uma preferência por gêneros musicais populares, refletindo as preferências culturais e o gosto musical da época.

MUSIC IN THE DECLINING BELLE ÉPOQUE: REFLECTIONS ON MUSICAL PREFERENCE IN THE OEUVRE OF COMPOSERS FROM PARÁ, 1912–1940

Abstract

This text discusses a study on musical compositions produced during the decline of the Belle Époque in Belém of Pará between 1912 and 1940. The aim was to identify the styles, genres, and musical tastes evident in the compositions edited and published during this period, as well as to analyze the relationship of these works with historical, social, and political contexts. This is a documentary research conducted on the collection of edited sheet music from the Vicente Salles Collection, belonging to the Museum of the Federal University of Pará. A total of 118 scores by 46 Pará composers were analyzed, with 65 works selected from 36 composers. As a result, a diversity of publishing houses in Belém was identified, along with a preference for popular musical genres, reflecting the cultural preferences and musical tastes of the time.
