Abstract: Walter Benjamin states, in one of his theses, that the period of exception for the oppressed has been a constant, since time immemorial. Dialoguing with the famous critic, we can think that in the polarized and dark scenario in which we live, resistance must also be reflected as a constant, precisely to break these extreme folds of history and the horrors of everyday life. In this sense, it becomes pertinent to reflect on the insurgencies committed as a form of survival, as well as the (im)pertinent acts and gestures of testimony of characters (anonymous or collective), as well as on the actions and movements of decoloniality on the geopolitical plane that aim to break the bonds of these dark times and these folds of history that insist on remaining perennial. Regarding the theoretical perspective of this call, we understand that resistance, both understood as an action contrary to an external force, in a game between the ethical and the aesthetic (Bosi, 2002), and understood as fracture and deviation (Sarmento-Pantoja, 2024), offers a possibility of articulation with the various forms of testimony and decoloniality - significant contributions that set the tone for recent aesthetic productions on the subject. Based on the above, this dossier aims to bring together works dedicated to the study of aesthetic works (visual arts, cinema, theater and literature) whose theoretical and methodological approaches are defined by the procedure of affective identification (Einfühlung) or empathy with those who carry “the banner of the general sanatorium” (Chico Buarque) and urge us to break with the dominant status quo. In short, we seek contributions that address processes of resistance, testimony, and decoloniality, in fruitful dialogue with the aesthetic arenas and fields highlighted in this dossier.
