SOB A LEI DO CÃO: O TRABALHO ESCRAVO NOS PRINCIPAIS CICLOS ECONÔMICOS DA AMAZÔNIA

Abstract

Este estudo se propõe investigar e compreender melhor como se deu a introdução do trabalho escravo e da sua consequente exploração de mentalidade colonialista na Amazônia, bem como a inter-relação entre os processos político, religioso e econômico, já a partir do fim da União Ibérica (1580-1640), no contexto dos principais ciclos econômicos, como, por exemplo, o da extração das drogas do sertão, passando pelo ouro na região guaporeana (hoje pertencente a Rondônia) e, posteriormente, pela voracidade do capital industrial nos dois ciclos da borracha, final do século 19 e início do século 20, e, finalmente, durante os anos decisivos da Segunda Guerra Mundial (1942-1945).

UNDER THE DOG LAW: SLAVE LABOR IN THE MAIN ECONOMIC CYCLES OF THE AMAZON

This study proposes to investigate and understand better how the introduction of slave labor and its consequent exploration of colonialist mentality in the Amazon occurred, as well as the interrelationship between the political, religious and economic processes, since the end of the Iberian Union, in the context of the main economic cycles, such as the extraction of drugs from the hinterland, passing through the gold in the region of Guaporeana (now belonging to Rondônia) and, later, for the voracity of industrial capital in the two rubber cycles late nineteenth and early twentieth century, and finally during the decisive years of World War II (1942-1945).
